Everything you need to know to maintain a safe and functional LiDAR sensor

Sensor Cleaning

Based on the sensor usage you may see dust, bugs and/or layers of mud/debris on the window. Before you attempt to clean your sensor, please read the instructions below on best practices.

Required Materials

  • Clean microfiber cloth (included).

  • Warm water.

  • Mild liquid dishwashing soap.

  • Spray bottle with clean water.

  • Spray bottle with mild soapy water.

  • 99% Isopropyl alcohol.

Procedure

1

Remove Loose Debris

Using the 99% isopropyl alcohol and a clean microfiber towel, gently wipe away bugs/mud/debris from the sensor.

2

Clean with Soapy Water

Spray the sensor with warm, mild-soapy water. Using a clean microfiber towel, wipe gently along the curve of the sensor, not top to bottom, to avoid scratches (think moving with the grain).

3

Rinse the Sensor

Spray the sensor with clean water to remove any remaining soap residue.

4

Dry Thoroughly

Use a second clean, dry microfiber towel to dry the sensor.
