Tracking Tool
The tracking tool allows an object to be tracked with it’s position, velocity and acceleration charted and logged. To start tracking select the Tracking tab and check Enable. Scrub or play to the time in the clip where tracking should begin and press Stop. Press Set ROI and use the mouse or touchpad to drag a rectangle over the object to be tracked (the Region of Interest or ROI). Press Set ROI again and the red rectangle should turn yellow to indicate that tracking is now active.
Press Play and the yellow ROI rectangle should follow the object being tracked. Note that tracking can be disrupted by background clutter. High contrast objects work best.
To restart tracking from the same origin point, press Home. The clip will rewind to where tracking was initiated and the ROI will be reset.
Charts for position, velocity and acceleration can be enabled by selecting the appropriate checkbox. Scaling for each chart can be adjusted using the relevant Scale sliders, with the steppers adjacent to the slider providing a 103 coarse adjustment. Alternatively autoscaling can be enabled for all charts by checking Autoscale with the option to restrict autoscale to adjusting upwards only by selecting the Max only checkbox.
If calibration has been applied using the procedure in the Measure Tool then real world units can be selected in the Units pulldown.
Note: Tracking may work when stepping forward or backward, or scrubbing, but it is likely to be less reliable than when playing.
